Here are nine steps to become a profitable writer, even if you have $0 in your bank account.

This is what drives sales and puts money in your pocket, and the foundation of media is writing. Writing becomes video scripts, real scripts, and online content, making everything better.
Writing is everywhere, tweets, Instagram posts, reels, newsletters, YouTube videos, they all start with writing. This shows how important writing is. It’s the best skill you can learn.
1. What topic should I Pick
First, choose a topic you are passionate about. Write down your favorite books, YouTube videos, social media accounts, and topics you would write about even if money wasn’t an issue.
Good writing is about conveying energy, not about being overly professional. The good part is you don’t need an English degree, anyone can write with impact. You don’t have to be perfectly grammatically correct.

2. Brainstorm Unique Perspectives
The second step is to come up with a unique perspective. New ideas grab attention, and you need attention for people to read your work.
Some people think trying to get attention is bad, but we do it all the time. When you put on cologne or style your hair, you’re trying to get noticed. So, why not use this to your advantage and do something good with it?
Having a novel perspective makes you stand out. Share your experiences and insights. People need to hear the basics in a fresh way.
The best way to do this is by telling personal stories. Talk about what you’re learning, your thoughts, and viewpoints.
Share other people’s stories or ones you find online. This way, you’ll always have new angles to explore.
3. Writing 1000 Words on the Topic is fine?
Step three is to write 1,000 words on your topic. Every piece of content should focus on a personal or professional problem. Here’s how to structure it:
- Describe the Problem: Start by painting a clear picture of the problem.
- Share Your Experience: Talk about your personal experience with the problem.
- Offer Step-by-Step Advice: Provide practical, actionable steps to solve the problem.
Giving useful advice helps you build an audience and show your value.
4. Sign Up for Blog or Newsletter Software
Sign up for a blog or newsletter software. I used to rely on fancy sales funnels, but when I simplified my approach, my income soared.
Here’s what I do now:
- Content Ecosystem: Write one newsletter a week, which is why we’re writing 1,000 words now.
- Newsletter and Blog: Upload the newsletter as a blog post.
- Social Media: Create a thread from the newsletter, and write three tweets a day based on its ideas. Turn these into YouTube scripts, LinkedIn posts, Instagram carousels, reels, TikToks, and podcasts.
Here’s the process:
- Pick a Topic: Choose something you’re passionate about.
- Write 1,000 Words: Use a simple structure: problem, personal experience, and actionable steps.
- Post: Share it as a newsletter and blog post.
- Repurpose: Turn it into a thread, three tweets a day, and various social media posts.
- Link Your Content: Under your tweets and posts, link to your blog post.
Why do this?
Because your newsletter or blog is the best place to promote your products or services. It’s more effective than a short tweet promoting a course.
Write longer pieces with a strong call to action, link them under related tweets, and watch your sales grow. This method significantly increased my revenue.
5. Repurpose Actionable Advice for Social Media
Repurpose the actionable part of your newsletter. This type of advice is the best way to start growing on social media because it’s useful and easy for beginners to follow.
At first, focus on giving practical advice rather than being too clever since people don’t know you yet. Many successful YouTubers started this way, sharing tips in areas like health, wealth, and relationships.
For example, they talked about self-improvement topics like working out or dating tips to build their authority. You should do the same to establish yourself.
6. Doe’s Networking really helps?
Learn how to grow network on the platform itself. You can’t win the social media game if you don’t understand the rules.
Just writing content won’t get you followers. If it were that simple, everyone would be a content creator.
You need to understand how social media works and how to get people to see your content, especially when starting out. Don’t rely on the algorithm.
At first, you need to network with people and get them to share your content. Good content alone isn’t enough; you need people to see it.
Network with accounts similar to yours and grow together. Comment on larger accounts so people notice you and visit your profile.
Make your newsletter so good that people want to share it. Join a community like Modern Mastery to meet others doing the same thing.
Remember, you need both good content and effective networking. It won’t work if you only focus on one. If there’s a problem with your brand, fix it.
7. Turn Ideas into Impactful Tweets
Turn ideas from your newsletters into impactful tweets. The 1,000 words you wrote earlier will give you plenty of ideas. You can read one sentence and think,
“How can I turn this into a tweet?”
List the reasons, then turn each reason into its own tweet. Keep doing this, and you’ll have endless content ideas. You only need to do this once a week since you’ll rotate topics based on your newsletter.
8. Developing a Writing System
Develop a writing system. Grab a notebook and study writing and social media frameworks.
For example, you can use frameworks like “PAS” (Problem, Amplify, Solution) or “AIDA” (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action).
Learn social media strategies too, such as how to grow your audience by doing DM’s people to network or commenting on larger accounts.
Take a basic Social Media Course on your phone and write down a process you can test for writing newsletters, tweets, and so on.
Test it daily and refine it whenever you face challenges. You’re creating a system here, step-by-step tasks you’ll do daily to improve. If you learn a new technique, write down the steps, implement them, and adjust as needed when issues arise.
Over time, this systematic approach will become more efficient and impactful. It’s how you achieve results in anything, including social media.
Refining your system reduces the mental effort needed, making tasks quicker and more effective. What once took me 4 hours to write now only takes 1 or 2 hours because I’ve honed my system.
This is how Corporates companies work and they become successful in running the tasks on time.
9. Branch Out to Different Platforms
Expand to different platforms. I’ve reused my writing from Twitter and my newsletter. I’ve grown to 453,300 followers on Twitter, 1.7 million on Instagram, and 743,000 on YouTube where I use the newsletter as the script for my videos. I also create reels by scripting them out.
This approach helps me grow on platforms like TikTok and others. Overall, I get more interaction than many, like most fitness models or writers.
Writing is the most powerful thing. It’s something everyone can read, learn from, engage with, and share with others.
Once you start doing this and building up your own content, you’ll see which ideas work best. Start on a platform like Twitter.
One about ten ideas do well, take them to other platforms to grow faster.
That’s what Dan Koe did.
And remember, this takes a lot of time, like 3 to 5 years for me as a creator.
In the beginning, I wasn’t serious, and I made my first ten thousand dollars. Then, it slowly increased to a hundred thousand, then one hundred fifty thousand, and finally eight hundred thousand when I figured things out. Now, it’s even higher.
